Allene Vaughn

Allene Denney Vaughn, 90, a resident of Chattanooga for over 50 years, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Friday, January 15, 2016. She was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church on Bonny Oaks Drive and attended Cleveland Community Chapel. She retired from Tennessee American Water Company after 29 years of customer service. She attended Berry College as a member of the Class of 1947.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Garvey and Susie Mae Shadinger Denney; step mother, Kathleen Wilson Denney; Charlie H Vaughn Jr., to whom she was married for 48 years; brothers, Everette, Bernard, Melvin and Donald Denney; sister, Maureen Jones.
She is survived by her son, Charlie H (Sharon) Vaughn III of Jamestown, Tennessee; daughter, Jenice V (Jim) Duggan of Chattanooga; 2 grandchildren, Denney Vaughn and Kristi (Doug Williams) Vaughn; great grandchildren, Britney Vaughn, Dylan Webb, Landon and Carson Williams; 2 sisters in law; many nieces and nephews and other special children.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from noon until 3:00 p.m. at the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Tazz Reid officiating. Graveside service will be held on Monday, January 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.in Emmaus Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Carrollton, Georgia with interment to follow.
