Barbara S. Elliott
Barbara Sue Thrailkill Elliott, "Bob" 82, of Chattanooga went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 18, 2015. She attended St. Elmo Avenue Baptist Church.
She lived on St. Elmo Avenue for over 40 years where she loved decorating for every holiday, especially Christmas. Her house was featured on WDEF several times during Christmas area lighting reports. She was an avid supporter of US101 and participated anytime they were doing fund raisers and live remotes.
She worked during many Christmas seasons as a gift wrapper at Hardy & Caudel, downtown Chattanooga. She was part of the first graduating class of the Chattanooga School Patrol Moms, and worked at Clifton Hills Elementary School on Rossville Boulevard.
She was a bookkeeper for United Bank of Chattanooga until she retired in 1974. She was very active in the PTA at St. Elmo Elementary and Lookout Jr. High School. She coached girls softball for several summers in St. Elmo with her favorite team, The Charlie browns. She loved to shop, travel and eat out. She was always ready for a new adventure.
Married on August 1, 1951 to her late husband, Edward M. Elliott, Sr. also preceded in death by her parents, J.W. & Hazel Thrailkill; brothers, Ed and Charles Thrailkill; sisters, Helen Wright, Charlotte Young and Doris Biddy.
She is survived by her son, Edward M. (Wanda) Elliott, Jr.; daughters, Nancy (Dewayne) Teague and Sandra (David)Kennedy; grandchildren, Sherrie (Carl) Ferrer, Brian (Kelly) Strickland, Rick (Betty) Elliott, Kristy (Nathan) Meade, Brett Kennedy, Keesha (Rick) Millard, Derrick (Lisa) Teague and Johnny Teague; several great grandchildren; Brother-in-law, Fred Biddy; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held on Monday, December 21st at 11:30 a.m. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Lloyd Harvill officiating.
Family will receive friends on Sunday Dec. 20th from 2-8 p.m and Monday up to 11:00 a.m. at the Hwy 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home or you may visit the online guestbook @ www.turnerfamilyfuneralhome.com
In lieu of flowers make donations to your favorite charity, the Alezimers Foundation, or take your family out for a meal. Mom loved life and she would wish for us all to spend each day with the ones you love.
