Barbara Sue Hogan, 76, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020.  She was an avid mystery and crime thriller reader, also spending much of her time sitting on her porch, watching birds.  She especially loved to watch Hummingbirds.  Barbara also loved making ceramics and pottery, and spending time with her family.  She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Ruby Shahan, and aunt, Bobbie Jean Rose.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Johnny (Janie) Hogan and Jimmy (Kathy) Hogan; daughter, Julia (Danny) Strickland Shackelford; sister, Deborah (Harry) Nice; grandchildren, Jeremiah (Lynn) Strickland, Adam (Avery) Hogan, and Josh Hogan; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 11 – 2 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home @ Hwy 58.  A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Jeremiah Strickland officiating.

Barbara will be laid to rest in McInturff Cemetery in Birchwood.
