Betty May
Crosby
Aug 20, 1938 — Feb 25, 2026
Betty Crosby, 87, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Betty was a longtime and cherished member of Lakewood Baptist Church, where her life reflected her deep commitment to serving others. She faithfully poured her heart into the church's nursery, caring for the youngest members with tenderness and patience. Betty also dedicated countless hours to children's church and the Awana program, helping guide young hearts toward God's Word.
An avid reader, Betty found great joy in Christian fiction and mystery novels. She loved stories that inspired faith and kept her guessing until the very last page. Her mind remained sharp and curious throughout her life, something she delighted in nurturing by watching game shows—especially Jeopardy!—where she liked to test her knowledge.
Betty will be remembered for her quiet strength, her servant's heart, and her enduring love for her family and church community.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Gene Crosby; children, David Harden and Pam Shelby, and siblings, Leland Stewart, Faye Stewart, Aulden Stewart, Frank Stewart, Paul Stewart.
Betty is survived by her son, Chuck Harden; stepchildren, Priscilla Goodwin (Dennis), Paul Crosby (Bonnie), Phil Crosby (Judy) and Eunice Crosby; thirteen grandchildren, including her granddaughter and caretaker who Betty played a large part in raising, Elizabeth Scoggins (Paxton), and several great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held the following day, Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Ronnie Gilbert officiating.
Betty will be laid to rest in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Please share your memories and express condolences to the family on their guestbook.
