Billy Joe Pair, 88, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2020.  He was born on December 13, 1931 to the late Joseph Heiskell Pair and Pauline Pair.  After his family moved from Alabama to Tennessee, Billy attended Tyner High School, where he eventually became an All State Football Player and Captain of the team. Billy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, then worked for AT&T for 35 years.  Billy was a member of Oakwood Baptist church for 68 years. He loved his church family and enjoyed playing on the softball and basketball teams until he decided to "retire" and devote the majority of his free time to attending his sons' wrestling matches and baseball games.

Billy was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 63 years, Betty Jane Pair, and two brothers, Jerry and Robert.

He is survived by his two sons, Joey (Diana) Pair and Jeff (Cheryl) Pair; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Joseph, Bryan, and Jason Pair; great-grandchildren, Beren, Isa, and Elly Pair as well as many beloved extended family members.

A private family graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery on Friday, April 24, 2020 @ 2 p.m. with Pastor Ken Clark officiating and Grady Dishroon performing special music.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Oakwood Baptist Church, 4501 Bonny Oaks Dr, Chattanooga, TN.
