Listen to Obituary

Brenda Mahaffey, 79, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Brenda attended Hardy Elementary and High School. She was a faithful member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church, where she loved her church family and treasured the fellowship and relationships she shared there.

Above all, Brenda loved her family. She was a devoted mother who cherished her children and took great joy in being a grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were a source of immense love and pride, and the memories she made with them will be treasured always.

Brenda will be remembered for her faith and the love she had for her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, church family, and all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Paul Daniel Mahaffey Sr; son, Paul Daniel Mahaffey Jr; parents, Edward and Frances Finnie, and brothers, Jerry Finnie, Joe Finnie and Johnny Finnie.

Brenda is survived by her sons, Teddy (Robin) Mahaffey, Doyle (Betty) Mahaffey and Robert Fritschmann; daughters, Deborah Bishop, Linda (Andrew) Layne, and Brenda Smith; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at Turner Funeral Home @ Hwy 58 from 3 – 7 p.m. There will also be a visitation on Monday, October 12, 2026 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Gary Blevins officiating.

Burial will be private.
