Bruce Talley

Bruce Raymond Talley, 88 of Chattanooga passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016. He was born at home on his family's farm on the Tennessee River on December 14, 1927 to Jess Bryan and Bessie McCallie Talley. He always liked telling people that his favorite aunt, Diamond Jane Talley DeLoach, helped deliver him. In 1945 he graduated from Tyner High School and later that year joined the US Navy serving for 3 years. After returning to Chattanooga he worked at DuPont as a maintenance man for 35 years. Upon his retirement he kept himself busy growing his beloved plants and selling them at flea markets. He loved and cared for his plants and flowers, always eager to give you one when you came for a visit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Bessie Mae Talley; sisters, Jessie Mae Durham, Betty Patterson and infant sister, Mary Ruth Talley; brothers, Bill, Jimmy, Marvin and JB "Jake" Talley.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lorene Bettis Talley; sons, Raymond (Deby) Talley of Dayton, David (Vicki) Talley of Collierville and Gary Talley of Chattanooga; sister, Pat Wells of Chattanooga; grandsons, Dave Talley, Nathan (Patricia) Talley, Michael (Kelly) Talley, Daniel (Nancy) Talley and Damon (Lisa) Talley; 8 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service with military honors will be on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 10:00 am at Bald Hill Cemetery in Birchwood, Tennessee with Rev. Daniel Talley officiating. Interment will follow. Pallbearers will be Damon, Dave, Nathan, Michael and Daniel Talley and Benney Standifer.
