Obituary

Cecil "Banjer" Humphreys, Sr., 84, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on May 15, 1939 in Harrison, TN to Frank and Myrtle Humphreys.  Cecil loved the Lord, his family, and church.  He was a former captain of Station I, Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department for more than 10 years.  Cecil also proudly served his country in the Army National Guard.  His time in the armed forces shaped his character and instilled in him a deep sense of duty that he carried with him for the rest of his life.  Following his military service, Cecil worked for ICI Americas Security and Fire, where he excelled in his role until his retirement.  His commitment to protecting others and ensuring their safety was unwavering, and he approached his work with utmost professionalism and dedication.  Cecil was highly respected by his colleagues and will be remembered for the impact he made in his field.  Outside of work, Cecil had a number of cherished hobbies and interests that brought him joy and allowed him to express his creativity.  He had a knack for woodworking and was known for his intricate designs and craftsmanship.  Whether it was whittling small trinkets or building furniture, Cecil poured his heart into each piece.

Cecil found solace and serenity in nature, spending his free time fishing and hunting.  He appreciated the quiet moments spent in nature, using them as a way to recharge and connect with the world around him.

His devotion to his faith was a cornerstone of Cecil's life.  He was an ordained deacon and a dedicated member of New Shepherd Hill Baptist Church.  Cecil found comfort and strength in his spiritual community and actively participated in church activities.  He touched the lives of many through his unwavering faith and commitment to serving others.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gene Humphreys; parents, Frank and Myrtle Humphreys; brother, Rusty Humphreys, and sister, Pat Payne.
