Obituary

Cecil W. Scott, 96, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

A member of Ridgedale Baptist Church, Cecil's faith was a steady foundation throughout his life.  He lived with quiet strength, integrity, and a servant's heart that touched many.

Cecil graduated from Central High School and went on to build a long and respected career as an electrician with Service Electric Company.  He was a proud member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 175 for more than 70 years, a testament to his dedication to his craft and the brotherhood he valued so highly.

Outside of work, Cecil enjoyed playing softball for several local teams and carried that same team spirit throughout his life.  He was an avid follower of Tennessee Volunteers football and rarely missed cheering on the Atlanta Braves.  Whether watching a game or discussing the latest season, he brought enthusiasm and loyalty to the teams he loved.

An avid walker, Cecil was a familiar sight along the Brainerd Levee in Chattanooga and through the Eastgate Mall.  In every season, rain or shine, he could be counted on to make his rounds.  For Cecil, walking was more than exercise; it was a connection with others.

Above all, Cecil cherished his family.  He found his greatest joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren, supporting their activities, celebrating their milestones, and sharing stories, laughter, and wisdom.  His steady presence and loving guidance will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

Cecil's life was one of devotion — to his faith, his work, his community, and most importantly, his family.  His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Katherine Stulce; infant daughter, Deanna; brothers, Claude, L.J., Wallace, Sam, Chalmus and Lynn, and sisters, Nell Malone (James) and Gladys Haven.

Cecil is survived by his sons, Kenneth Scott (Julia), Kirby Scott (Teri), and Kris Scott; grandchildren, Stephanie Ferguson (Doug), Alexander Scott, Kristy Bovee (Eric), Kevin Scott, and Abby Scott, as well as six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home.  A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Phil Harris officiating.

Cecil will be laid to rest in Bald Hill Cemetery in Birchwood.
