Charles Edward Dempsey Sr., 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 27, 2018. He entered his eternal home surrounded by family. Charles was born on October 17, 1928 and was the oldest child born to Clyde E. Dempsey, Sr. and Edith Swanson Dempsey of Ringgold, GA. He retired after forty-seven 1/2 years from Target Graphics, affiliated with Chattanooga Times. Charles served in the National Guard and was a deacon at King's Point Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary C. Dempsey; son, Thomas M. Dempsey; granddaughter; Tera L. Dempsey; grandsons, Earl Rose Jr. and Jason Dempsey; two son-in-law's, Edward S. Huckeba and Charlie Davenport; two brothers, Kenneth and Robert Dempsey and one sister, Kathleen Johnson.

Survivors include, Charles "Eddie" Dempsey, Jr. (Debra), Ann Huckeba, Donna (Paul) Belcher, Wanda Davenport, Larry (Lisa) Dempsey; daughter-in-law, Beverly Dempsey; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; brother, Clyde Dempsey, Jr.; sister, Patricia Clamp; special caregiver, Nancy Smith and several other family members and friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Soddy Daisy Healthcare Center staff and Avalon Hospice.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 2–8 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be Monday, July 30, 2018 at 1 p.m. with Minister Herman Saunders officiating in the Turner Funeral Home Hwy 58 Chapel. Visiting hours the day of the funeral will be from 10-1 p.m. Charles will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery next to his loving wife of 63 years, Mary.
