Charles Ray Knowlan, 82, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. Lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Mr. Knowlan was a well-known, active member of the community. He was a U.S. veteran, having retired from the U.S. Army in 1993 after serving 40 years. Mr. Knowlan was a strong willed, independent man, having spent his life taking care of others and will be very missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Kattie Knowlan and siblings, Gilliam, Doug, John, George, Herschel, Margaret, Helen, Marie and Louise.

Mr. Knowlan is survived by his wife, Yoshiko Knowlan; daughter, Teresa Fields; brother, Preston (Willene) Knowlan; sister, Troas Layne; grandchildren, Brian Fields and Terra (Richard) Bryson and great-grandchildren, Llyra, Aria, Brea and Reyna Bryson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 4 - 7 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home @ Hwy 58. A chapel service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 @ 9:30 a.m. in the Turner Funeral Home chapel. Following the service, Mr. Knowlan will be laid to rest in Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.
