Curtis Hyde, 64, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026. He will be remembered for his many talents, his love of life, and the interests that brought him joy throughout the years.

A graduate of Central High School, Curtis built a career as an engineer, using his knowledge, skill, and problem-solving abilities in his professional life. He was also a chef and had a genuine love for cooking and sharing that enjoyment with others.

Curtis was a proud Shriner and an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed cheering on the UT Vols, baseball, and watching NASCAR. He loved a good game or race and enjoyed keeping up with his favorite teams and drivers.

Music was another of Curtis’s great passions, especially rock and roll. He appreciated the energy and spirit of the music he loved, and it remained an important part of his life.

When he wasn’t working, cooking, or enjoying his favorite music and sports, Curtis loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed golfing and fishing, as well as relaxing at the beach, a place that held a special spot in his heart.

Curtis leaves behind cherished memories, friendships, and a life enriched by the things he loved. He will be remembered for his talents as an engineer and chef, his involvement as a Shriner, his enthusiasm for sports, his love of music, and his appreciation for the outdoors.

Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the passions he shared will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

May he rest in peace, forever remembered and always loved.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice, and parents, Curtis and Jean Hyde.

Curtis is survived by his son, Trey Hyde (Marlena Ijames); aunt, Tony Denton; niece, Maegan West; nephew, John Denton; cousins, Charmaine West; Jeff Denton and Jennifer Osborne Flynn, as well as his furry four-legged friend, Sandy.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens East in Chattanooga.

Please share your memories and express condolences to the family on their guestbook.
