Danny S. Avans, age 66, of Hillsboro, formerly of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 14, 2026, at his home. He was born on April 20, 1960, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the son of the late Robert James and Peggy (Perkins) Avans.

Danny proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. During his time in the Air Force, he was honored to serve as a member of the Air Force Honor Guard, paying tribute to and honoring his fallen comrades. His love for his country remained an important part of his life throughout the years.

Danny worked for many years at ABX Air in maintenance control. He was a very mechanically inclined man who could fix just about anything, especially when it came to cars. He had a special love for collecting cars, with infinity for Mustangs, and could often be found proudly driving one in veterans' events across the country. He also enjoyed building and flying RC model airplanes.

Some of Danny's happiest memories were made traveling with his family. He loved taking trips across the United States, as well as traveling to Canada and Mexico in their RV. Danny was always the one who organized the trips and made sure everything was planned so his family could simply enjoy being together and making memories.

Above all, Danny was a devoted family man. He loved his wife and children deeply and treasured the time he spent with his family. He was a selfless person who always put the needs of others before his own and was always willing to help those he loved. Danny will be remembered for his kind heart, his willingness to help, his love of family, and the many memories he created with those closest to him.

Danny is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Avans; two children, Emily Elyse (Jeremy) Zhao and Aaron Avans; a grandson, Roland Zhao; a sister, Debbie (Steve) Gates; mother-in-law, Kitty Bentley; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Bentley and Deborah (Marty) Alderman; brother-in-law, Bruce Bentley and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 21, 2026 from 10 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 12:15 p.m. with Lloyd Welton officiating.

Danny will be laid to rest in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

Please share your memories and express condolences to the family on their guestbook.
