Doris "Ruth" Easter, 87, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.  She was a faithful member of Oakwood Church of God of Prophecy.  Ruth had a lifelong love of reading and could often be found with a book in her hand - whether it was a novel, a puzzle book, or her cherished Bible.  Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and she found great comfort in her daily devotions.

A seasoned shopper, she had an eye for finding deals and especially loved shopping with her granddaughter.  Ruth's sewing skills were another expression of her creativity.  Above all, she treasured her family.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend.

Ruth's love for her family and faith left a lasting impression on all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Anna Lou Johnson, as well as several siblings.

Ruth is survived by her children, Diana Tucker (Hugh), Deborah Jenkins (Rick), Vincent Easter (Leslie) and Suzy Johnson (Marc); brother, L.E. "Red" Johnson (Mary Lou) and Beverly Gilbert (Mabry); nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 13, 2025 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home.  A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Barry Lee officiating.
