Eileen
Sudds
Aug 1, 1946 — Aug 31, 2022
Eileen Sudds, 76, passed away peacefully at home, with her daughter Amanda holding her hand, on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 12:04 p.m. in Ooltewah, Tennessee.
Born and raised in Mullinahone, County Tipperary, Ireland, Eileen lived with her parents, Johanna and Richard Fitzgibbons, her brother Richard, and her five sisters, Theresa, Mary, Kathleen, Josephine and Peggy. After attending school in Mullinahone, she set out for London with her sister, Josephine, and friend, Breda Coffee. Eileen attended nursing school with her sister and had a passion for helping people. During this time, she met her future husband, Barry Sudds. Upon seeing her at a fair, Barry said, "That's the woman I'm going to marry." After courting, Eileen and Barry were engaged and married.
Eileen traveled to many places with her husband while he was in the British Royal Navy. She gave birth to her son, Kevin, on an American Naval base in Belgium. Eileen and Barry later settled in Fairham, England, where she gave birth to her daughter, Amanda. Eileen was a very strong woman and a caring mother who became the head of the household and raised her two children on her own while her husband worked abroad. She had a passion for helping people and was a home healthcare worker for most of her time in England.
In 1987, she immigrated to The United States of America with her husband and two children. She has lived and worked all over the United States, including California, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. Most recently, she settled in Ooltewah, Tennessee, where she lived with her daughter, her son-in-law, and two of her grandchildren. She lived happily in her own little apartment in her daughter's home. She enjoyed reading, sweets, and watching television; but enjoyed spending time with her family the most. She spent her last few days with her son and daughter.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard, and her sister, Mary.
Eileen is survived by her children, Kevin Sudds, and Amanda Senentz; sisters, Peggy, Theresa, Josephine and Kathleen, and her grandchildren, Owen, Samantha, Adrian and Lucas.
In accordance with Eileen's last wishes, she will have a graveside funeral service on September 15, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, located at 1 Mount Olivet Dr., Chattanooga, TN 37412.
There will also be a Mass said for her on Saturday, September 24, 2022 @ 11 a.m. at St. Stephens Catholic Church, located at 7111 Lee Hwy, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
