Elizabeth Ann "Sis" Gentry, 82, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 8, 2017. She was an avid camper and loved Gatlinburg, sports and bluegrass music. Elizabeth retired from Hamilton County Department of Education and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mamie Lively Hood; husband Charlie; son, Ronald; brothers, Edward, Hoyt, James and Carlos Hood.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Meda (Earl) Groce, Rhonda (Buck) Griffin and Connie (Eddie) Pruitt; brother, Henry Hood; grandchildren, Craig Griffin, Eddie Groce, Randy Groce, Edwin Pruitt and Timmy Pruitt; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 10, 2017 from 4-8 pm and on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from noon until 2:00 pm in the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow with Pastor Bill Proctor officiating. Memories and expressions will be given by Earl Groce. Interment will follow in New McDonald Cemetery with grandchildren serving as pallbearers.
