Obituary

Hannah "Haven" Elise Cohen, 28, was born on August 5, 1996 and passed away suddenly in her home on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

Hannah was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Reuben and Reggie Cohen; Aunt Evelyn Dushek; maternal grandparents, Thomas Ezell and Dorothy Hallford; Aunt Katie and Uncle James Watts and Aunt Susan Daniel, as well as furbabies, Rosebud, Chloe, Bella, Lyric and Eragon.

Hannah is survived by her parents, Stuart and Shirley Cohen; brother, Jared Cohen (Maggie); niece, Mary Elise Cohen; sister, Connie Lund (Justin), and furbabies, Buster and Salem.

Under the guidance of many dedicated teachers and personal tutors, she earned her high school diploma from Central High School and spent countless volunteer hours at McKamey's Animal Shelter.  She completed the Goodwill Job Training Program.  She attended Chattanooga State pre–Vet Tech Program.  Hannah had an incredibly steady hand and produced some amazing artwork and woodburnings.  She loved music and to read.  Her heart could have held the entire world no matter how harsh it was to her.  Hannah was a warrior and a survivor.  She was a lifelong patient at St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN.  Hannah's passion in life was for animals.  She always said animals "never judge me".  Everyday was Halloween to this Dragon Queen.  She was an incredible daughter, sister, cousin, niece, granddaughter and friend to countless fortunate human beings.  Haven was a guiding light in her vast online community circle of friends and family that she built.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home.  There will also be a short visitation on Monday, May 18, 2025 from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.  A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Brother Mike Manning officiating.
