Helen Woods

Helen Imogene Woods, 90, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. She was a native of Jackson, Alabama and moved to Chattanooga in 1952. She retired from Lovemans/Proffits after 20 years of service. Helen enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and cooking Sunday dinners for her family. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hixson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Minnie Eason Olinger; husband, Melvin Woods; 3 sisters, 1 daughter in law and 1 grandson.
She is survived by her son, M (late wife, Vicki) Douglas Woods and daughter, Brenda (Bill) King; grandchildren, Christopher (Cyn) Gooden, Danny (Missy) Woods, Craig (Kelley) Woods and Jason (Michelle) Gooden; great grandchildren, Hunter, Rachel, Mary, Rebecca, Katherine, Kristyne, Kensi, Kiernan, Tessa, Henry, Jennifer, Axy, Jeremiah, Cody, Maggie, Nathanael, Colby and Jensen; great great grandchildren, Bryanna, Tryston and Joseph; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2-5 pm in the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 5:00 pm with Minister Craig Woods officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in National Cemetery on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 1:30 pm. There will be no visitation at the funeral home on Monday.
