Hoyt Evans Short passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the age of 84.  He was born on July 1, 1939 in Chattanooga, TN to John H. and Mary E. Short.  Hoyt was a member and past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Harrison, TN.  He was also a member of the Shriners, Scottish Rite and a lifetime member of the NRA.  Hoyt was employed with Tuftco as a Plant Manager for 19 years and was sent to Germany representing the company as a liaison.  Later, he started his own business with his wife, Hoyt's Automotive, retiring in 2015 after 36 years in business.  He greatly enjoyed NASCAR and spending time with his daughters, coaching softball and showing horses.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Short; four brothers, and one sister.

Hoyt is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Short; daughters, Tamera F. Short and Kaye Lessman (Brian), as well as special friends, Gordon Dickson and Claude Shelton.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home @ Hwy 58.  A Celebration of Life will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Brother Mike Manning officiating.
