Hubert "Butch" Sims, Sr., 75, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.  He was born and raised in the Chattanooga area and attended Birchwood School.  Butch loved to shoot pool and had many trophies showcasing his talent.  He was also an avid fisherman.  Butch was known for being a man of extraordinary patience and he took pride in anything he did.  He loved old cars, antiques, a good bargain, whittling, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Virginia Sims; son, Hubert Sims, Jr., and sister, Margaret Dean Shahan.

Butch is survived by his sons, Johnny Sims (Marylee), and Shawn Sims (Julie); daughters, Arlene Botts, Beverly Rogers (David Vandergriff), and Laura Towe (Neal); sister, Diane Davis (Melvin); grandchildren, Mark Hurst, Jr., Johnny Sims, Jr., Tabitha Hurst, Brandon Lawson, Latisha Sims, Bryan Lawson, Mikel Hardin, Johnna Ridenour, Rodger Sims, and Jaxson Sims; great-grandchildren, Faith, Brailey, Juliana, Destiny, Noah, Brylie, Avery, and George.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 3 – 7 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home @ Hwy 58.  There will also be a visitation on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 10 a.m. – noon.  A funeral service will follow in the chapel @ noon with Pastor Ronnie Dotson officiating.

Butch will be laid to rest in Williamson Cemetery in Ooltewah.
