Obituary

James "Dale" Clark, Sr., 96, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.  Dale was born on April 2, 1927 to Thomas Allen Clark and Mary Ellen Nash Clark in the Pinewood Community of Hickman County, TN.   He was a 1945 graduate of Hickman County High School, working briefly in Oak Ridge, TN until the end of WW2.   Dale returned for several years to Centerville, TN, where he was employed by General Shoe before relocating to Chattanooga, TN.   In Chattanooga, he was employed by the DuPont Company for 27 years.  Dale also became a home and rental property builder and property manager which he enjoyed very much.   He was also a licensed building contractor, plumber, and electrician.

Dale was a 50+ year member of the Lake Hills Church of Christ in Chattanooga.

He was a great joy and provider to his family.  Dale enjoyed a good joke, often speaking of how much he enjoyed off-road motorcycling and Jeeping.  He will be sorely missed by those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Anne Bowen Clark, also of Hickman County, TN; daughter in law, Betsy Alden Clark; son, James Dale Clark, Jr. (Bonnie Scaro); brother, Stanley Clark, and sisters, Mary Tom Clark and Lunelle Clark Henley.

Dale is survived by his granddaughter and faithful caregiver, Audry Elizabeth Clark; son, Greg Clark (Wendy); step-granddaughter, Caitlin Lewis (Chris), and step-great-granddaughter, Charlotte Lewis, as well as his brother, Dorris Clark.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.  A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Chattanooga @ https://www.hospiceofchattanooga.org/donations
