James L. “Papaw” Goins, 83, of Ooltewah, TN went home to be with the Lord and his son on Sunday, August 2, 2026.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Papaw was known for his love of farming, trading and hunting. James will be remembered for the love he shared for his family and all the friendships he built through farming, trading and hunting. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Annabell Goins, three brothers, Ed, Larry and Ernie Goins, two sisters, Phylis Headrick and Susie Evans and his one and only son, Stinker Goins.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma Goins, granddaughter, Brittany (Bobby) Goins, grandson, Bubba (Paisley) Goins, five great-granddaughters, Lily, Lyla, Sadie, Kaliana and Raelynn, two great-grandsons, Braxton and Opie, daughter-in-law, Lisa Goins (aka Big Mama) and three sisters, Joyce Burton, Diane Walker and Tootsie Marshall.

The family would like to express their appreciation to his nephew, Larry “Munk” Goins and his wife Katie Goins, daughter, Nikki Williamson and son-in-law, Tylor Williamson for all the love and help throughout the years.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Goins officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
