James Massingill

James T Massingill, 82, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017. He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Mr. Massingill retired from Hamilton County Highway Department after many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Sara Massingill; son, James E. Massingill; parents, Taylor and Nellie Bice Massingill; sister, Martha Massingill;

Mr. Massingill is survived by his sons, Terry Massingill and Wayne (Crystal) Massingill; daughter, Sara (Mike) Dilbeck; brothers, Roger (Margaret) Massingill, Jerry Massingill, Robert (Vanessa) Massingill and Ricky Massingill; sisters, Judy (Gene) Helton, Jenny White, Kathleen (Howard) Knox, Nellie (Robert) Evans, Ellie Mae (Kenneth) Copeland, Maria (Randy) Graves and Barbara (Donnie) Blackwell; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 4-8pm at the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 1pm in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Massingill will be laid to rest beside his late wife, Sara, in Maddox Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Massingill, T. J. Massingill, Chris Rayburn, Michael Dilbeck, Dylan Roland and Jeremy Copenhaver.
