James Anthony Smith
James Anthony "Smitty" Smith, 68, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018. He was a lifelong area resident and a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church. "Smitty" was a former employee of Dupont. He retired from the United States Postal Service after more than 20 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and an avid bowler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B and Pauline Smith and sister, Nancy Bradford.
He is survived by his sons, John Smith and James Smith; daughter, Patricia Troupe; sisters, Denice (Alan) Anderson, Donna (Vance) East; granddaughters, Rachel Moore, Shelia Smith and Olivia Smith; great granddaughters, Kaylee Harriod, Serenity Moore and Natalie Moore; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 4-8 pm at Turner Funeral Home. The funeral will be Friday, January 5, 2018 at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel with Reverend James Julian officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens West, Tiftonia, GA.
