Jane Sexton, 79, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Jane was born at home on March 24, 1947, in Dunbarton, South Carolina to Marion and Katherine Weathersbee. Her life was marked by a deep love for the Bible, a generous heart for missions, and a spirited personality that never shied away from a good debate.
Her faith was an important part of who she was. She loved studying the Bible and sharing her thoughts and beliefs with others. She also had a heart for missions and believed in giving to help spread the Gospel and support those serving others. As a member of Rockpoint Community Church, her faith remained a meaningful part of her life.
Jane also had a great love for travel and adventure. She was fortunate enough to visit all 50 states and the Bahamas with her life-long husband, Bill. She enjoyed the opportunity to experience different places, and especially loved the lands themselves—the beauty of the landscapes, the character of each place, and the unique features that made every destination special.
Being with her family was a joy for her. She loved taking the family out to dinner, providing snacks and making ordinary moments special with laughter and fun.
For more than 20 years, Jane worked in daycare and cared for kindergarten-aged children. Her work gave her the opportunity to touch young lives during some of their most important formative years.
One of Jane’s most cherished traditions was giving each of her grandchildren a dollar every time they saw her. It was a simple gesture, but one that reflected her own special way of showing love. Those little gifts became a treasured memory and a reminder that sometimes the smallest things leave the biggest impressions. Her grandchildren will always have that sweet memory of their grandmother and the joy she brought to their visits.
Jane’s favorite sermon talked about heaven. It said that everything we have been told about heaven is true. Heaven is better than we can imagine and people in heaven are happy. Jane is now happy today, in Heaven with her Savior.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Katherine Weathersbee; beloved sisters, Toby and Judy; brother, F.W., and his granddaughter, Katrina.
Jane is survived by her husband of 60 years, William “Bill” Sexton; children, William Sexton (Diane), Melissa Bell (Daniel) and Daniel Sexton; sister, Bess Strong (Larry); brother, Marion Weathersbee (Violet); fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
