Jay C. Derrick, 90, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025.  He was born on July 3, 1934 in Tippah County, MS to Jessie and Ruby Derrick.  Jay spent 22 years in the United States Air Force.  Some of his duty stations included Amarillo Air Force in Amarillo, TX, Brussels, Belgium, and Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, FL.  When Jay retired in 1975, he had served 9 years in the Pentagon, Washington D.C.  Some of his favorite pastimes included fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie C. and Ruby Derrick, and siblings, Dale Derrick and Curtis Mauney.

Jay is survived by his spouse, Josephine Derrick; children, Tammy Derrick (Rick Walker), Ronald J. Derrick; stepchildren, Rhonda Hughes (Roy) and Alison Irwin (Todd); grandchildren, John Ellis, Veronica Derrick, Hannah Irwin, Elijah Irwin and Grayson Hughes; great-grandchildren, Brayden Derrick and Hazel Grace Derrick, as well as sisters, Jamie Aiken and Rannie Butler.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Jay will be laid to rest with full military honors.
