Jo Howard, 83, peacefully entered her heavenly home on August 8, 2018. She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and a member of Oakwood Baptist Church.  Jo retired from the Hamilton County Board of Education after more than 25 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Corky and her daughter-in-law Cindy Howard.

Jo is survived by her sons, Brian (Tina) Howard, Scott Howard, and Steve Howard; her granddaughter, Alex Howard and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Friday, August 10, 2018 in our chapel at 2 p.m. with visiting hours from 1 p.m. until the time of service with Pastor Ken Clark officiating.   Mrs. Howard will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery next to her husband Corky.

The family praises God for a wonderful life well lived and for the blessings of her loving caregivers, Teri Harrison, Van Forester, Kristi McBurnett and Angela Brown for being there during the difficult times of her life and caring for Jo as if she were their own family member. The family would also like to give a very special thanks to the many other wonderful caregivers along the way as well as to Avalon Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Alzheimer's Association ( www.alz.org ) or St. Jude (www.stjude.org).
