Obituary

John Lewis Roberts
April 22, 1926 – August 26, 2017

One of Chattanooga's finest left this world and traveled to a new country. His heavenly home gained. He was the father of "5", grandfather of 13, great grandfather of 33 and great-great grandfather to 7. He is well loved by many.

During his life he went on many adventures and learned many things. He served our country in World War II in the Navy. He was a mechanic and owned Roberts & Sons business that he inherited from his father. He was a pilot that flew the Shriner children to their place of need whether it was for surgery or the burn hospitals.

He was the 1983 Potentate and 33rd degree Mason. He was a Baptist by choice and a Saved man by grace. He raced cars and loved to travel. Music was a major enjoyment of his life. The Georgia Country Music Hall of Fame Award and Bluegrass Hall of Fame Coke Ovens in Dunlap, TN honored him. He is also a member of the Signal Mountain Opry Association.

As you see a man of many talents. His family will miss him. His legacy will continue for years to come.

His loving wife, Louise Hazel Ferguson Roberts, of 53 years has already left this world. His daughter, Minnie Darlene Roberts Davis "Dolly", stood to greet him along with his parents Jay C and Minnie Roberts. His sister, Margaret Ellen Roberts Braxton was waiting also.

Left to mourn his passing is daughters Patricia Ann Kittle and Margaret/Fred Browning. Sons Leonard Jay/Lynda Roberts and Robert Eugene Sr./Jeannette Roberts. Many friends and family will continue this earthly journey until we see him again. We want to thank George Hagood for always being available to help day or night in dads care.

Also Daryl, dad's next door neighbor helped at all hours we needed him. Kelly, James and Linda Gaines helped us when they were available also. Thank each of you for all of your love and support.

Avalon Hospice and Peggy Fowler, mom Mildred and son TJ, thank you for endless support. Amazing kindness was shown by each and every one of you.

We love our dad and will miss him. Look close dad, we all will be there soon!
