Judy Kay Mckinney, 82, a beloved sister, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2025 at the age of 82.

Judy was born on July 20, 1942 in Harrison, TN, where she lived until moving to Chattanooga, TN in 1968.  She attended Harrison Elementary and graduated from Tyner High School.  Starting out as a member of Harrison Baptist, Judy later joined Bayside Baptist.  She retired from the United States Postal Service, where she worked for many years.

Judy married her childhood crush, Jimmy Ray Mckinney, in June of 1961, and their union would last 60 years.  In her life, she enjoyed playing the piano, reading murder mysteries, crocheting, Christmas crafts, and listening to music.  She always found time to crochet hats to donate to hospice throughout the years, as well as baby afghans for family and friends.  If there was something that needed to be mended, Judy would be there with her needle and thread (or super glue).  She was an expert at D.I.Y-ing and enjoyed finding creative ways to modify an object to better suit her own needs.  Judy will always be remembered for her crafty and caring ways.

Judy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmy, on December 16, 2021.

She is survived by her children, Teresa, Kathy, Angela, and Ernest; grandchildren, Melissa, Paisley (Marvin Crockett), Diego and Jared; great-grandchildren, Savanna and Damien, and great-great-grandchild, Perseus.  Judy is also survived by her brother, James "Jimmy" Holland Moon, and her sister, Nancy McMillian Helmericks.

As per Judy's wishes, she will be cremated without a viewing.  The family will receive friends on Friday, April 4, 2025 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.  A committal service will be held at McInturff Cemetery on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 12 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to help cover medical expenses.
