Julia Tallent
Harmon
Jul 14, 1925 — Mar 22, 2022
Julia Tallent Harmon, 96, passed away on March 22, 2022. She was born in Houlka, Mississippi to J.B. "Buster" Tallent and Debbie Lee Funderburk Tallent on July 14, 1925 and was married to her husband, Q. T. Harmon, for 55 years. Julia was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church in Georgetown, Tennessee, where she taught The Gleaners Sunday School class for 20 years.
Julia had a gift for making lifelong friends which she did when she and Q.T. worked at the Carnation Milk Company in Tupelo, Mississippi early in their marriage. After Q.T. graduated from Ole Miss in 1955 and began his career at Sears, she made friends in several cities while supporting her husband's career advancements and raising their children, Rhonda Harmon Reese and Perry B. Harmon. Julia's faith in Christ was the bedrock of her life, so wherever they moved, including Montgomery, Alabama, West Palm Beach, Tallahassee, Miami, and Hollywood, Florida, Julia saw to it that the family was active in a Bible believing church. Julia spent many years working at Hollywood Hills Nursing Home in Hollywood, Florida. She loved people and always reached out to help care for individuals with special needs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Q.T. Harmon, her parents, and seven siblings, Harley Tallent, Adele Tallent, Ruby Tallent Harper, Ted Tallent, Sam Tallent (her twin brother), Durell Tallent and Ruth Tallent McDonald.
Survivors include her two children, Rhonda Harmon Reese (Glenn) of Jacksonville, Florida and Dr. Perry B. Harmon (Anne) of Lebanon, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Jackson Perry Harmon (Chandler) also of Lebanon, Emily Anne Harmon of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Hayley Katherine Bowling (Matt) of Lexington, Kentucky; sister, Nell Tallent Mason of Clinton, Mississippi, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home @ Hwy 58. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel with Reverend Al Miller officiating.
Julia will be laid to rest with her husband, Q.T. Harmon, in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Meadowview Baptist Church, 10715 Ooltewah Georgetown Rd, Georgetown, TN 37336.
Please share your memories and express condolences to the family on their guestbook.
