Obituary

Kenneth David Tate, 49, of Chattanooga, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, July 18, 2024 surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.  We are comforted in knowing he was greeted by a host of loved ones who welcomed him into Heaven.  David was a professional painter and cabinet finisher who took great pride in his work.  He graduated from Central High School in 1993.  David loved spending time with his family, four wheeling, fishing, and playing on the beach, cheering on the Tennessee Vols, turning old furniture into something beautiful and new, but especially loved taking his family to church.

David was truly the best of us!  He was a devoted husband, a loving and patient father, a wonderful son who honored his parents, a cherished brother, and an amazing uncle, cousin and nephew.  He was a friend to all who met him with an enormous heart and compassion for everyone.  If David was your friend, he was a friend for life.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Verna and Oscar P. Tate, Jr. and his maternal grandparents, Grace and Gilbert Wright, Jr.

David is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Brenda Tate of Harrison; his wife of 21 years, Shannon Tate; his precious son, Lucas Michael Tate; sister, Joy L. Tate of Harrison, and nephew, Jeffery Tyler Gilliam; in-laws, Mike Ashley of Chattanooga, Toni and Mickey Noll of Ooltewah, as well as a large extended family of many aunts, uncles and cousins.

David will be missed more than words can express. We will honor his life every day until we meet him again at Heaven's gate.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Revive Church, 4872 Jersey Pike, Chattanooga, 37416.  A Celebration of Life will follow with Pastor Tim Ashley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of David's hard-fought battle.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Please share your memories and express condolences to the family on their guestbook.
