Lorene B.
Talley
Oct 21, 1927 — May 28, 2024
On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, Lorene B. Talley of Kingspoint in Chattanooga, TN, went home to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. When she arrived, we're certain she was welcomed by her many friends and family members who were already there.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bruce R. Talley; her father and mother, Dave and Ida Bettis; her brother and his wife, Howard and Vera Bettis; her daughter-in-law, Deby Talley; and her grandson, Ephrem Talley.
She is survived by her sons; Raymond B. Talley, David L. Talley (Vicki), and Gary A. Talley; her grandchildren, Dave Talley, Nathan Talley (Patricia), Damon Talley (Lisa), Michael Talley (Kelly), Daniel Talley (Denise), Jennifer Edmonds (Rodney); 12 great-grandchildren; her nieces, Shelley Chasteen (Steve) and Lisa Bettis, as well as many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Lorene was a Christian who shared her love for Jesus with everyone around her. She was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN, her whole life. She served in many ways, but one of her favorites was running the Mother's Day Out Program. She loved telling stories of her adventures with the little ones.
Lorene and Bruce were married almost 70 years and raised their three boys together. Their home was a place where the neighborhood kids hung out. Most of them called Lorene "Mama Talley." They loved going to their sons' baseball games and were supportive parents for all of their sons' interests. Eventually, their sons had families of their own and there was no better Mamaw on Earth than Lorene.
She loved growing flowers and plants. She was excellent at knitting and crocheting and taught classes on these at church into her 80's. All of us will miss the booties that she crocheted for us and will be reminded of her love when we wrap ourselves in a quilt or blanket that she made.
The family would like to thank the staff at Spring City Nursing Home and the staff at Hearth Hospice; nurses, Page and Renee, and caregivers, Linda Kirkland, Teresa Krupa, Linda Cather, and Denise Talley.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 31, 2024 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home @ Hwy 58. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Al Miller officiating.
Lorene will be interred at Greenwood Cemetery, next to her father and mother.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your church or favorite charity. Most importantly, please pray for our family as we will miss her so much here on Earth until we are together with her again in our heavenly home.
Please share your memories and express condolences to the family on our website.
