Lowry Powell, 100, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022.  He was one of nine children born to Mr. Thomas Haskell Powell and Mrs. Maude Grubb Powell of Big Springs, TN.  Mr. Powell attended school at Edmondson School of Business, Tennessee Wesleyan College, and was a graduate of Tennessee Tech University.  He was a United States Army veteran, serving our country during WWII.  Mr. Powell was employed with Dupont for 30 years as a cost accountant.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews: Sylvia Kubic, Kenny Gross, Judy Weinmann, Don Welch, Cynthia Wilson, Becky Simpson, Janet Rollyson, Marcella Wells, David Baker, Lebron Sterchi and Michael Sterchi.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home @ Hwy 58.  A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Reverend Ken Herring officiating.

Lowry will be laid to rest in Powell Cemetery in Meigs County, Tennessee with military honors.
