Lyles Burnette

Lyles Lamar Burnette, 75, left this life on March 3, 2017 in a local health care facility. He retired from Chattanooga City Parks and Recreation after many years of service. Lyles was well liked and was known for his work with the poor and elderly with food distribution. He was a member of Alton Park Church of Christ for many years where he served during the church's many functions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Mary Edith Barnes Burnette; brothers, William and C. W. Burnette.

Survivors include his son, Marcus Burnette of Chattanooga; grandsons, Marcus Burnette Jr. of Chattanooga and Chemar Burnette of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Devra (Vernon) Dinsmore of Georgetown and Lucille Padgett of Chattanooga; brothers, Terry (Mary) Burnette of Ooltewah, Kenneth (Glenda) Burnette of Covington, Ga., Lewis (Maggie) Burnette of Birch Tree, Mo. and Clinton Lee (Linda) Burnette of Ga.; several nieces and nephews.

A remembrance of life service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Alton Park Church of Christ with Brother Philip Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in Tyner Cemetery.

The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service and the family will receive friends during this time. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
