Margie Smith
Margie Sue Smith, 72, began her new life on March 9, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. A resident of Chattanooga, TN., she retired in 2007 from Synthetic Industries. She was of the Baptist faith and attended The Gathering Church in Ft. Oglethorpe. As the matriarch of the family, Margie was known for her love of making quilts and her home-cooked meals that would bring family and friends together. She had a servant's heart touching the lives of everyone she came in contact with and leading by example.
Margie is preceded in death by her parents, Everett Hoyt and Mabel Louise Henson; sister Annie Hyde and husband Norman Smith.
She leaves two children, son, Buddy Smith and daughter Kim (Don) Patty; 4 grandchildren, Jacob and Brooke St.Clair, Peyton and Paxton Smith; 5 great grandchildren, Graci, Abigail, Charlie, Owen and Sawyer. Surviving siblings are Betty Nicholson (Jim), Robert (Sandy) Henson, Ronnie (Ann) Henson, Vickie (Dennis) Dent, Mary (Don) Young, Sheri (Dan) Jefferies, Nina (Larry) Rains and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Adam and Nick Young, Greg and Chris Smith, Chad Bramlett, and Jason Rains.
The funeral service will be on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the Hwy 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Minister Tracy Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in New McDonald Cemetery.
