Mary "Jo" Whitworth, 72, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024.  She was a lifelong resident of Harrison, TN.  Throughout her life, Jo exemplified what it meant to put others before herself.  Her warmth and generosity of spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

An avid gardener, Jo found joy and peace in the outdoors.  Her garden was a reflection of a nurturing soul, a vibrant space filled with blooms and greenery, where she spent countless hours.  Jo also had a deep affection for animals.

For over 10 years, she faithfully served the Lord, deeply committed to her faith and her church community.  Jo started the "Angels of Mercy" ministry, which helped the homeless and single mothers.  She was lovingly known as "Sister Jo".  Jo found deep comfort in her unwavering belief in God.  She would faithfully study her Bible and was always praying for others.

She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, exceptionally devoted to her family.  One of her greatest joys was being surrounded by her loved ones.

Jo was preceded in death by her father, Stanton Hart; mother, Mary Tucker; sister, Betty Bowling, and brother, Ferris Hart.

She is survived by her husband, Ranse Whitworth; sons, Lonnie Gann II and Jason Whitworth; daughters, Tracy Gann and Christy Gouger; brother, Lebron Tucker, Paul Tucker and Alan Tucker; sister, Sharon Ferguson, and three grandchildren, Savannah, Noah and Destiny.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. at Maple Grove Baptist Church Family Life Center, 9525 Birchwood Pk, Harrison, TN 37341.
