Meta Lavada Hood, 91, passed to her eternal home on March 3, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Meta was born on October 13, 1933, in Harrison, TN, to Ross and Bertha Mae Forgey. She was a woman of faith, with the ability to care for and love others in a way that is impossible to forget if you experienced it.

She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She will be remembered for being a friend to all, a hand in times of need, and, most importantly, a lover of Jesus Christ who walked the straight and narrow path in true faith.

Meta is survived by her daughter, Sharon Davis; grandsons, Keith and Kevin Davis; great-grandchildren, Channing Kent, Maya, Myles, Eli Davis and Kolbi Davis; and great-great-granddaughter, Poppy.

She is preceded in death by her soulmate, Edward "Dude" Hood, and her beloved son, Randy Hood, as well as four of her eleven siblings.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 4 – 8 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, with a service to follow on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 11 a.m with her brother-in-law, Pastor Jack Rinks officiating.

Meta will be laid to rest in Old McDonald Cemetery with her husband, Edward "Dude" Hood.

In honor of her love for houseplants, the family respectfully requests them in place of perishable flowers.
