Mike Phillips, 70, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.  He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.  Mike was retired from the Chattanooga Park and Recreation Department, with the majority of his career at the East Chattanooga Community Center.  He loved the children and adults who helped and participated in the various baseball, football, basketball, and modified softball leagues over the years.  Mike had wonderful memories and a special fondness for the Saturday men's church league teams.  He loved music, travelling, and every sport known to man, particularly golf.  However, his true love was his family, especially his grandchildren.  They brought him infinite joy.  He will be sorely missed by everyone he touched with his boundless love, kindness, and joy for life.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Truman Phillips and Margaret Clark Phillips; brothers, Dan Phillips and David (Roxie) Phillips; brother-in-law, Larry Finney, and sister-in-law, Jerri Brown Finney.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Finney Phillips; sons, Alan (Crystal) Vineyard and Matthew (Rebecca Johnson) Phillips; beloved grandchildren, Macy and Evan Vineyard; brothers, Jack (Judy) Phillips and Rick (Bernice) Phillips; sister-in-laws, Brenda Phillips, and Debbie Finney and Joy Finney; aunt, Wilma Phillips, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 3 – 8 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home @ Hwy 58.  A visitation will also be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.  The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Jim Shoemate officiating.

Burial will be private.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful people at CKC, Erlanger MICU, and Kindred Hospital who took such loving and exceptional care of him during his extended illness.
