Nellie Ruth Rooks, 89, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert O. and Myrtle L. Knight; husband of 63 years, J.Y. Rooks; infant daughter, Kimberly Rooks; infant son, Kendall Rooks; sisters, Agnes Swanson, Inez Ball, Gartrell Walker and Ella Bass; brothers, Oscar Knight, Jr. and Clyde E. Knight.

She is survived by son, Ronald (Sue) Rooks; daughters, Cathy (Larry) Johnston and Cindy (Mark) Gossett; four grandchildren, Ronnie (Ashley) Rooks, Kim (Jason) Arp, Michael (Savannah) Johnston, Eric (Danielle) Rooks and Kaitie Masters; great-grandchildren, Caleb Huskin, Madison Johnston, Emme and Palmer Rooks and David and Emmett Rooks.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home on Hwy 58. A graveside service will follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Duane Mills and Rev. Randy Bell officiating.
