Nita Maria
Hart
Feb 4, 1957 — Dec 28, 2016
Nita Hart
Nita Maria Hart, 59, of Chattanooga returned to God's gentle embrace on December 28, 2016. She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga/North Georgia area and a graduate of Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School.
Maria was born on February 4, 1957 in Kansas City, MO. On the occasion of her birth, her mother wrote in her journal, "Maria, so small and so sick, I pray dear Lord, please let me see my beautiful little girl live, so that I may share my love with her." Maria did live and showed the world her stubbornness would prevail. Maria found success, friends, and family. She cherished her friendships with Betty, Barbara, and her cousin Judy. Maria found an enriched life with her husband of 40 years and completeness with the birth of their son. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and an endless source of joy. Maria enjoyed the rewards of an accomplished 30 year career and the benefits of hard work. Her compassion and generosity touched many lives. She was selfless, always considered the needs of others before her own, and never met a stranger. Maria's love was unconditional and a blessing to all who received its riches. Maria's worldly presence will be missed, but she leaves behind a legacy of love that will last for generations.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey and Elizabeth Wood; sister, Patricia Payne, and brother, Aubrey Wood, Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Ferris Hart; devoted son, Daniel Hart, and her beloved grandchildren, Joseph, Danielle, and Eli Hart. Maria is also survived by her brothers, Jim Espy, David Wood, Larry Wood, and Donald Wood as well as nieces and nephews, many of which considered her a second mother.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 31, 2016 from 5-9 pm in the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home and on Sunday, January 1, 2017 from 1-4 pm. The funeral service will follow with David Fairchild giving the eulogy. Interment in Chattanooga National Cemetery will be on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 1:30 PM.
