Orene A. Driggers, 100, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025.  Orene was born and raised in Stevenson, AL, moving to Chattanooga when she was 19.  She was employed as a quiller tender for Standard Coosa Thatcher for 35 years.  Orene loved yard sales and antiques.  She enjoyed working in her yard, especially mowing and picking up sticks.  She also would frequently cook breakfast and was famous for her biscuits.  Orene adored her family, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil H. Driggers; parents, William and Janie Abney; son, Tommy D. Mitchell; daughter, Glenda Sharp; granddaughter, Teresa Randolph; great-granddaughter, Kayla Kennett; great-grandson, Dylan McBrien, as well as several siblings.

Orene is survived by her sons, Rodger Mitchell (Donna) and Charles Mitchell (Sonya); daughters, Sandra Paulette Kee (Jimmy), Denise Morris Durham (Jeff) and Gail McKeel; sister, Bethel Faye Mitchell; thirteen grandchildren, as well as several great and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 4 – 8 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 11:15 a.m. with Pastor Tim Ashley officiating.

Orene will be laid to rest in Chattanooga National Cemetery with her husband, Cecil.
