In Loving Memory of Patricia Ann Kanerva

With hearts full of love and gratitude to God, we celebrate the life of Patricia Ann Kanerva, who entered into the presence of the Lord on July 14, 2026 at the age of 85. Born on February 7, 1941 in Sault Saint Marie, MI, Patricia lived a life marked by unwavering faith, kindness, compassion, and devotion to her family. She trusted in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and found strength, hope, and purpose in her relationship with Him throughout every season of life. A faithful member of Oakwood Bible Church, she loved worshiping the Lord, studying His Word, and encouraging others through prayer, generosity, and a servant’s heart. Her faith was not only something she professed but something she lived each day, reflecting Christ’s love to everyone she met. She found comfort in God’s promises and often reminded those around her that His grace is sufficient, and His love never fails. She served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, AWANA leader, in Gideons, and in Gideon’s prison ministry.

More than anything, Patricia treasured her family. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother whose always open door was a place of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.

She leaves behind her beloved children: Tammie Lyn Burgett (Randy), Duane Leroy Kanerva (Janet) and Darren James Kanerva (Angela), 7 Grandchildren; Tara Barber (James), Shawnna Figgins (Brian), Brittany Deaton (Brett), Brandon Kanerva (Jessica), Christine Dorosh (Davis), Dalton Kanerva (Leah), and David Kanerva (Campbell), and 9 great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish her wisdom, gentle spirit, and the countless memories they shared together.

She was preceded in passing by her husband, Jerry Lee Kanerva; brother, Robert Hesselink, and brother-in-law, Walter Walcott.

Though our hearts grieve her absence, we rejoice in the assurance of God’s promise that those who believe in Christ have eternal life. As Scripture reminds us, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” (John 11:25)

Her legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her. While she will be deeply missed, we find peace in knowing she has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” and now rests in the eternal joy and peace of her Savior.  May we honor her memories by living with the same faith, compassion, and love that she so faithfully shared throughout her life.
