Patricia Smiley, 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

Patricia was a loving person who spent much of her life taking care of others. She was a hardworking commercial fisher and had also worked as a waitress, always doing her best to provide for herself and the people she loved.

Patricia cherished the small things in life that make it beautiful. She enjoyed fishing, quilting, sewing, cooking, gardening, and farming. Though, she was happiest spending time outdoors, tending to her plants and animals. She delighted in spending time with her family and shopping with her best friend.

Patricia will be remembered for her generous heart, her hard work, and the many people she loved throughout her life. She left an unforgettable mark on many and will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmy Smiley, parents, Ralph Mitchell Smiley and Eula Smiley; siblings, Bernice Shelton, Virginia Bartlett, Gloria Mayes, and Neil Smiley, as well as her beloved dog, Sadie.

Patricia is survived by her children, Angela Whaley Vaughn (Carla Mickel), Kathy Whaley, Keith Whaley and Billy Whaley; sister, Emma Lucille Tow; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; best friend, Janette Standifer, and sassy little chihuahua, Macy.

A special thank you and recognition goes to her granddaughter, Hannah Vaughn, who cared for Patricia and remained by her side until her passing. Her care was a beautiful reflection of the same love Patricia gave to so many throughout her life.

Burial will be private.
