Peggy McRita Varner Holder, 85, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019. She was a member of Gamble Road Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Chattanooga.

Mrs. Holder was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Holder; parents, Thomas Varner and Nora Cook Varner Kincer; sister, Betty Jo Wingo; brothers, Paul Varner, Theodore "Bud" Varner and William Varner as well as her daughter-in-law, Venona Holder.

She is survived by her children, Charles (Becky) Holder of Sweetwater, Teresa (Mark) Mahoney of Birchwood; stepsons, Robert (Jackie) Wardlaw of Hixson and Glenn (Peggy) Holder of Birchwood as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Holder's family would like to extend their gratitude to Amedisys Hospice and Karen West. The family is also especially thankful for her loving caregiver, Vickie Holland, who was such a blessing in their time of need.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 1 - 5 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home @ Hwy 58. The funeral will follow at 5 p.m. in the Turner Funeral Home chapel. Mrs. Holder will be laid to rest with her husband Glenn in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Interment will be private, held at a later date. Serving as pallbearers are Nick Whitfield, Dylan Mahoney, Jeff Holder, Casey Holder, Mark Mahoney, Mark Haralson and honorary pallbearer, Jim Holder.
