Pierce Horton Jr.

Pierce "Rocky" Elijah Horton, Jr., went home to join his Lord and Savior in eternal peace on June 5, 2017. Rocky was born on August 2, 1932 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Pierce Sr. and Edith Horton. He served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Rocky retired from Red Food/Bi-Lo, where he was known as the lollipop man, after 38 years as a produce manager. He was a member of East Chattanooga Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his father, his beloved mother, and brothers, Edward "Ebby" Horton and Eugene "Gene" Horton.

Surviving are his siblings, Linda Baxter, Francis Hill, Kathleen Avans, Elizabeth Biggs and Donald Horton.

Rocky had 5 children; Michael (Carolyn) Horton of Chattanooga, Rick Horton of Lancing, Michigan, Linda (Joseph) Sullivan of Vancouver, Washington, Melissa Horton of Grand Ledge, Michigan and Gregory Horton of Lansing, Michigan; he had 7 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 2-5 pm at the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 6 pm with Minister Christopher Biggs officiating. Rocky will be laid to rest in Chattanooga National Cemetery on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 10:30 am with Military Honors.
