Richard Grudzinski, 75, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026. Born on April 22, 1951, in Walla Walla, Washington, Richard lived a life marked by dedication, service, and commitment to his country. He spent the last 37 years of his life making his home in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he built a life and became part of the community.

Richard proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, beginning his military career with the 173rd Airborne Brigade before serving as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. His military service was a reflection of his dedication, bravery, and commitment to his country during a pivotal time in American history.

In recognition of his honorable military service, Richard received numerous awards and decorations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Parachutist Badge with one silver service star, denoting 60 parachute jumps. He also earned the Expert Marksmanship Badge with the M-16 rifle. These honors stand as a testament to his dedication, skill, and service to his country.

After his military service, Richard continued his working life in Chattanooga, where his last employment was with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It was fitting that he continued to serve in a capacity connected to the nation he had once defended in uniform.

Richard's life was one of service, from his time as an Army paratrooper in Vietnam to his years of work in Chattanooga. His military service and the sacrifices he made will not be forgotten. His legacy is one of patriotism, perseverance, and dedication.
