Obituary

Richard "Rick" Igou, 74, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.  He was a native resident of Chattanooga and of the Baptist faith.  He was eternally saved at Brainerd Hills Baptist in 1965.  Rick was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam era.  He was also a successful entrepreneur and businessman, owning several different types of businesses over the years, most notably owning and running independent gas stations, a yellow pages phone directory, a portable sign company, car lots, skating rinks, miniature golf courses, and video game rooms.  However, he was most well-known for Igou Video VHS and VCR rental stores and being a local television talk show host on TV61's Rick Igou Show in the 1980's and 1990's, followed by streaming talk shows online and his local internet news website, Nooga.com.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, William "Bill" Whaley Igou II, and mother, Thelma Cookston Igou.

He is survived by his children, Karen Eastman (Chris), Kelli Yates (Jeremy), Cookston Igou and Sam Igou (Drew); grandchildren, Caleb, Carson, Kendall, Nathan, Lauren and Owen, as well as his sister, Kim Wade (Billy).

A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery where Rick will be laid to rest with military honors.
