Rita J Gates
Rita Joyce Gates, 71, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 9, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Rita was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who loved spending time with her family, she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She lived her entire life in Chattanooga and was a member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewel and Geneva Hughes Branum; brother, Hubert Hughes.
She is survived by her son, Terry Ellison, daughters, Karen (Guinn) Campbell and Charlene Belvin; brother, Hershel Hughes; grandchildren, Jason (Kristen) Atwell, Derrick Atwell, Curtis Ellison, Clay Ellison and Josh Ellison, Charles Belvin, Stephen Blevin and Renee Belvin; 4 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 3:00 – 8:00 pm and on Monday from noon until the hour of service at 2:00 pm in the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Pastor Grady Dishroon officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jason Atwell, Terry Ellison, Guinn Campbell, Greg Broom, Josh Ball and Derrick Atwell.
Rita will be laid to rest in Harrison Cemetery.
