Robert Owens Nixon, 79, of Chattanooga, Tennessee succumbed to lung cancer at his home surrounded by his family on January 22, 2016. Robert is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judy; daughter Denise (Brian Kirby) and granddaughter Analisse of Rome, Italy. He is also survived by three sisters, Bobette Turnipseed of Tampa, FL, Marion Cadle and Francis Phillips of Booneville, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Arden and his mother Lila, of Paden, MS; one brother, Roy, of Memphis, TN.
Robert retired from the U.S. Army, April 30, 1975 with over 20 years of service. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was awarded the Purple Heart while in Vietnam.

Visitation will be 3–4 pm Sunday, January 24, 2016 with the funeral service to follow at 4:00 in the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home. Interment with Full Military Honors will be at 10:30 Monday, January 25, 2016 in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
