Obituary

Ronald C. Shaw, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 in Chattanooga, TN.  A man of many names:  Ron, Ronnie, Uncle, Captain Ron, the Outlaw, Dad, and Grandpa, just to name a few, was born in Rock Hill, SC in 1946.  His family moved to Chattanooga where he grew up with his parents, Cecil and Anna Shaw, sister, Cecilia (Sivley), and three brothers, Kenneth, Zachary, and Tobin.  He graduated from Kirkman High School in 1964 and then joined the Army, where he served for over 20 years in various roles and locations that took him across the country and world, including Minnesota.  It was there that he met and married Adele Edgar in 1971.  In 1979, Ron returned to Chattanooga with Adele and their two sons, Jeremy and Anthony.  In 1981, their daughter Katrina was born.

Upon retiring from the Army, Ron kept himself busy by volunteering at WTCI, running his own video/audio duplication business and even transporting travel trailers, which became a family affair with his brothers and nephew.  For fun, Ron skydived, played penny poker with his friends, coached little league baseball, rode his motorcycle, fished, took up sailing, and always offered a helping hand to his family and friends.  He loved sharing silly stories, and in most instances, he was his own main subject.  Many of his stories culminated in finding, "a perfectly good _____" on the side of the road, with subjects that included furniture remains, motorcycles, and old cars.

Most recently, Ron was a beloved father and grandpa.  Claiming he would never "babysit", grandpa always had grandchildren in tow and could barely go 24 hours without seeing them or taking them on some adventure.  He and his antics will truly be missed.

Have a bad cup of coffee and a cold hot dog for Ron, Dad, and Grandpa.

Share memories and express your condolences on the guestbook.
